I just got my ‘18 Freightliner! I’m so excited to drive this Semi. I love my journey so far as a rookie company lady trucker. You will see the whole exterior and interior of my 2018 Freightliner cascadia before I moved in it and when I moved my stuff in. Trucking is my best investment in life so far.

Daimler makes trash trucks for Americans.
Trucking companies like them because are cheap compare to others but for the drivers it is a disaster.
This truck have the worst suspension system.
The truck shakes so violently when you drive it and it may paralyze your back.
If you drive it for years you will have permanent pain on your back.
These trucks are a piece of trash, made only for America because nobody likes them.

That was very impressive. Can the technology take into account the road conditions, (wet, snow, etc.) when it determines when it needs to apply the brakes?

My partner and I have been driving big rigs together since my 21st birthday. We haul freight back and forth from Atlanta/home and the west coast. Nice to see that the trucking industry is finally catching up to passenger cars when it comes to safety.

@10:04 truck mistakes side road as the route in error. seems completely safe to me. truck would have left the highway right there.

Impressive stopping of this truck towards end of video! Maybe one day they will create sensors for stationary cyclists and pedistrians.

Ironic how the guy in charge of safety keeps staring at Thomas while he is driving. Was a bit creepy actually 😉

So great and so dangerous all in one. These systems would be brilliant if the driver didn't know they were there. Once they know they will look away and lose attention. That's just how it is.

Eventually such automation will put many people out of work, so there will be less need for trucks because fewer people will be able to afford the goods that are transported by trucks.

LOL! Conspiracy theories say that this technology is reversed engineered by a team of scientists at the well known area close to the Daimler testing site!

If this tech is fitted I think emergency assist needs to fitted and not allowed to be disabled.
This would stop drivers falling asleep and losing control of the vehicle. It would bring the vehicle to a complete stop in lane if the driver became unresponsive.

This is superb. Certain features should not be allowed to be deactivated though, so many people turn their safety systems off automatically as they find them annoying.

My 2018 Suzuki Swift used to make a shrill beeping for a couple of seconds whenever it thought you were going to hit anything (even driving around stationary cars slowly)
However it twice saved me from an accident so I would never turn it off no matter how annoying it is.

In real life especially line keeping assist with audio warning are dangerous. System makes driver angry and more tired by end of the day. Truck with this system is not for Teams. Because of that sounds ringing all the time during driving. Its like sleeping in the karaoke bar.

Bumper guard is good. but it is a little bit small. If you hit a deer in jumped state, you will spend a lot of money.
